In search of a better camera.

I have been debating about the expense of a new camera for awhile. The one i have now was purchased 6 years ago, on a college budget. It has been with me through all the embarrasing moments of me turning to an adult. i.e. accidents on tricked out golf carts, that have me being thrown from the full sized couch that was mounted on the backseat and being empailed in the hip on a deer antler, and explaining to my boss that I was not intoxicated when it sounded like a good idea. To overseas trips to Chrisitian pilgrimage sites where I learn to smoke and drink like a sailor.

It has been my constant companion. I even used to catalog the various stages of inebreation of tequila for a speech given to my spanish class on the advantages of Jose over Jack. (I got an A. thanks to my mexican ex priest/exorcist spanish teacher)

However I have noticed that for all of my art I post on Deviant, the color is dull and lacking.

So if I get a new camera it needs to be up for the task to survive the abuse I put it through. I am mostly broke so what can a girl do. I feel like that guy on sunset looking for a date but doesn't have the cash for a good time and is willing to trade taxservices for a happy ending.

current project

I am currently working on turning old family photos into portraits. I want to paint people, and my first portrait,a copy of a portrait of queen victoria, (which i will post as soon as I find the best way to do that). I decided to try my hand at my family.

My background:
I took som art classes in school. I studied business and language arts, but I always managed to fit an art class in my schedule. My family seems to like my paintings.

I learned by copying from prints found in books. You see it all the time in museums where art students copy the masters. I know I could never sell them so they stay in the family. My mum asks for a copy of so and so for her front hall way and I make it for her.

My promise to Deviantart. I will ask permission before I use any stock images for my own. Have no fear, I have no desire to enter competitions, just want to paint. It beats having to look for a better job.
